Mika Manning is a freelance artist residing on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, also known as Vancouver, BC. She began training in dance at Arts Umbrella and upon graduation moved to San Francisco to study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance. Currently, Mika is working towards her bachelor in Art, Performance and Cinema Studies at Simon Fraser University. Over the years she became curious about how movement can be translated onto video and in photography. Mika has been exploring how images can portray motion, guide the viewers eye and ignite their imagination. Her work has been featured in the Dance Current Magazine’s 2020 July/Aug issue and in promotional materials for Arts Umbrella Dance.
